Nehemiah 8:10b This day is sacred to the Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Kevin turned 5 this week. Nothing brings more joy to a child then their own birthday. The anticipation and count down to the special day, even my older teens have count downs! With Kevin being 5, we count days in how many sleeps until an exciting event. The utter joy and delight when he wakes up and asks if today is his day!
We as adults lose our joy and delight as we age in the simple things. Seeing the world through a child is sometimes better for all of us. Things aren't so difficult. Simple joy's can be enjoyed without the worry of the otherside of the coin. No ulterior motives, just effortless enjoyment.
God wants us to have joy. Joy in the Lord is our strength because we know and I mean really know it's going to be alright. He will make it right no matter what we face. His plan is good, full of hope and peace. He doesn't want his people walking around in a cloud of confusion and sadnes.
Choose joy today. Take a walk, have a cup of tea, catch up with a friend, read a book, listen to music or watch the sunset. Allow God's joy be your strength.
