Genesis 17: 1 When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, " I am God Almighty (El Shaddai); walk before me and be blameless".
El Sahaddi appears in the bible seven times but Shaddai appears 48 times. There is some controversy on the actual definition of Shaddai. El means The God. Shaddai can be defined as all sufficient, almighty, overpowerer or even the breast(nourish). Though when put together make perfect sense; The Almighty God who is sufficient enough to satisfy!
Abram knew God as El Shaddai. He understood that "El", The God, is the only one with the power and ability to meet our every need. We are to obey the Lord in every aspect of our lives because He is sufficient. When we walk with Jesus we become blameless because He died for our sins. We begin to reflect Christ himself. The closer to El Shaddai we get the more we stop worrying about our needs and know He is enough.
Now this the God I want to serve. Amen!
