Daily Devotional: Reinvigorate your weary soul in a world that offers only sinking sand on Gods solid rock today.

Psalm 34: 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Yesterday I woke up feeling sad and brokenhearted. This has been a year filled with things that once were and are no more. I am grieved in my spirit for what was. As I watched my 4 year old playing in the sand box at the park today, I tried to smile but tears fell. Normally this would bring a smile to my lips and happiness to my heart.
What happened? When did we wake up on another planet?
I LOVE my country. I love Colorado; my family, friends and business partners. The bible, in Matthew 24 tells of the things that are to come. Jesus warns that love will grow cold, brother will hate brother, those who follow him will be persecuted even to death. I have, like so many knew these events were going to happen "some day". I guess I didn't think some day would be today. I long for what was. The carefree days of just going to a movie, having coffee with a friend, enjoying swimming at the local pool, a vacation, even school. These sound so simple and easy. But Now; all the negative news, protests, politics, looting, anger, hate, masks, pestilence, loss of liberties and such sadness.
How are we to survive the coming waves? Quitting isn't an option. The way through is in the most famous book ever written.
Book of Instructions Before Leaving Earth!
John 14:27 My Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let your heart not be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
This and hundreds of other verses tell us not be afraid, anxious or troubled. The bible is clear that those who mourn will be blessed and comforted, Matthew 5:4.
God says, " I will turn mourning into Joy", Jeremiah 31:13.
Psalms is a book full of comfort when the enemy is pounding at the door.
I am still sadded by events of 2020. I try not to fear for the future. I cling to the words of Jesus that He will never leave us nor forsake us;
Deuteronomy 31:6. His plans are for good and not disaster; a future and hope;
I hold tight to His words:
"So take heart my beloved because I have overcome the world" John 16:33.
Take heart, buckle up and don't look back. We aren't going that way. Jesus will lead us home. Keep your eyes firmly on him and in His word.
