The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6: 12 Forgive our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.
In Matthew 18:21-22
Peter ask Jesus how many times should I forgive my brother who sins against me. Jesus responds, " I tell you not seven times, but seventy times seven". Forgiveness is spoken of more than 100 times in the bible. This is a key verse in His Prayer.
Mark 11:25 says when praying, if you hold something against someone forgive, so your Father in heaven can forgive you your sins. God wants us to forgive as He forgave because the weight of holding grudge, anger or hurt is too heavy for us to bare. It causes a block in our future prayers and relationship with Jesus. So forgive as Jesus forgave.
I understand this is an important topic, easier says then done.
I, myself feel the weight of it. We will study forgiveness on it's own in a future week long blog. Amen
