Matthew 6: 9-13
The passage we read last week in our quest of reading the bible in a year included the Lord's prayer.
I have just recently grasped some of the full concepts in this prayer. We will take a few days and break it down so you too can truly see it's richness and glory.
Verse 9: This, then is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name"
First we see in the previous verses, Matthew 6:5-8 (re-read), Jesus just told us how NOT to pray. I just love that Jesus tells us what not to do and why. He is so clear, no secret handshake only simple instructions.
We will look at 7 key revelations from this the most profound prayer from Jesus himself.
Pray to God the Father alone.
Because of what Jesus did, by dying on the cross, the veil was torn and now we can go directly to God our Father. No one has to present our case to Him. We do not pray to dead saints or angel's but directly to Him alone. Let us remember Jesus himself prayed to God, His Father. Many times He went off to pray and in the garden of Gethsmane He prayed so fervently His sweat was like drops of blood, Luke 22:44, Yet He yielded His will to the will of the Father alone.
