I looked over at the clock 1am...UGH!!...wide awake with intrusive thoughts. I've never felt this before. I almost couldn't breathe. Anxiety and intense fear had moved in and I awoke with thoughts that made me feel like I was drowning....
How do you get through fear of the unknown. These are unprecedented times. Pandemic, economic collapse, food and goods shortages, social isolation; all the new normal today. I think back just two weeks ago and wonder how did we get here?
Uncertainty, zero control and the unknown throws us on the throne of fear. If we allow F.E.A.R. into our minds we give control to Fright, Extreme Anxiety and Restlessness.
Fear is not from the God. Fear comes from the throne of the enemy of this world. When we allow ourselves to bow to this sovereign then we block the power God has given us through Jesus to have his strength flow through us. The bible is clear in saying," not to fear" as it is mentioned more times then any other negative emotion.
So how do we move from anxiety and trepidation to confidence and equanimity?
In ibelieve.com three important steps are given that we can use to move from fear to freedom.
1. Acknowledge what fear is:
Fear comes from Satan and is a tactic used to distract us from the freedom we have in Jesus. He gave us the authority in His name to cast out all fear and walk in his power.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.
2. Seek God until he takes away our fears and anxiety:
Focus on freedom from fear. Keep praying and casting fear away in the name of Jesus. Replace it with His truth and hope. Fear has limits but hope is limitless!
Isaiah 12: 2-3 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the Lord my God is my strength and hope.
3. Speak truth over the lie:
Speak Gods truth over the lies of fear even if you don't feel like it. Fear must flee is the light of truth. F.E.A.R. is sometimes described as; False Evidence Appearing Real.
In times like this we can acknowledge that yes the future is uncertain and appears unsteady. The truth is God is still on the throne and knew beforehand this time would come.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Do not be afraid or terrifed because I the Lord will go with you and I will not leave you or forsake you.
1 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and sound mind.
Sound mind!! Oh Amen. I speak truth over fear today. I choose to look at Jesus and not circumstance. I pray hope and faith on all who feel hopeless and afraid. Turn to the One who spoke the universe into existence not to an uncertain world with an enemy who leads in panic.
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" AMEN.
